A Childminder assistant can be an employee, a volunteer or self-employed in a paid/unpaid role. Registered Assistants can be counted in your ratio however you must ensure they are reliable and consider this when including them in your ratios. The assistant works with Children under the registered Childminder. For both Childminders and assistants, the ratio of staff to child ratio remains the same per adult and must not exceed the 6 Children under the age of 8.
