Breast Ironing

£5.00

Breast ironing, also known as breast flattening, is a harmful practice where young girls' breasts are intentionally damaged to delay their development. This process often begins at the onset of puberty and is typically carried out by female relatives. Methods may include using an elastic belt or binder to prevent breast growth. Those who perform breast ironing often mistakenly believe they are protecting the child by making her less "womanly," aiming to reduce the risk of harassment, rape, abduction, and early forced marriage, and to help the girl remain in education.
