Hello!
I’m Ruth, together with my mum, Caroline, we run ‘Little Bunnies’ childminding in Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Ruth is a fully qualified Primary School teacher and has been teaching in a local primary school for the past 12 years. She also has a BA Hons degree in Education Studies and Music and is looking forward to being able to deliver lots of musical experiences to the ‘Little Bunnies’ children.
Caroline has had over 25 years’ experience working in Primary education and has worked with a diverse range of children over the years.
Together they have a wealth of experience in adapting provision for children with additional needs and have completed various training over the years for supporting Speech, Language and Communication needs and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
Caroline and I regularly update our qualifications and training modules include EYFS training, Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding Children (Level 2), and Food Safety and Hygiene (Level 2).
We are a mother and daughter team who co-childmind and run a very much ‘home from home’ setting called ‘Little Bunnies’. We childmind from a spacious bungalow which is in the grounds of Caroline’s house with a separate entrance and garden and is solely used for the children in our care. The garden has a covered outdoor area, bark and patio areas, plant beds and a secure raised decking area for our younger children to explore safely.
During our day we enjoy open ended play where each child’s natural curiosity is sparked through the resources in our setting. We create areas for outdoor kitchen, water play, construction, den building and anything that comes from the children’s interest. This allows children to lead their own learning and develop at their own pace. We have a wide and varied selection of good quality resources, which we rotate on a regular basis, following the interests of the children, themes of the seasons, celebrations and days of importance.
We encourage the children to take part in food preparation, gardening and caring for our environment. We enjoy lots of arts and crafts, baking, storytelling, and singing.
We have a designated baby room and quiet space, as well as a sleep room for the children to take their naps in if needed.
We love to spend time outdoors in the community and regularly visit local parks and of course the beach which is just at the end of our road. We teach the children to respect nature and wildlife, and the area that we live in.
We are open for 47 weeks of the year, not including bank holidays. Monday- Friday. 8am- 5pm.
We currently accept Early Years funding for eligible working parents (term time only).
We have experience of working with children and young people with a range of complex and additional needs. As an inclusive setting, we welcome all with no prejudice and tailor care to the individual child to meet their needs and to help them thrive to their full potential.
