About Me
Hi, I'm Light, founder of Little Ember Childcare. Working with children has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I have spent over half of my life caring for children in a variety of roles, and I feel incredibly privileged to play a small part in their early years. Watching children discover the world around them, build confidence and develop into their own unique personalities is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. Throughout my career, I have supported children of different ages, abilities and backgrounds, developing a strong understanding of how children learn best through play, positive relationships and meaningful experiences. I am passionate about creating envronments where children feel safe, valued, loved and inspired to explore. I continually update my knowledge through professional training and ongoing development to ensure I provide the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety, child development and early years practice. At Little Ember, I am supported by a small team of caring and dedicated practitioners who share my commitment to providing high-quality childcare in a warm, nurturing environment where every child can flourish. My Setting
Little Ember Childcare is a warm, welcoming and purposefully designed early years setting created to feel like a home away from home. Our environment has been carefully organised into dedicated rooms for babies, toddlers and preschool children, allowing each child to learn, play and develop in spaces tailored to their stage of development. Our approach is centred around learning through play. We believe children learn best when they are curious, engaged and actively involved in meaningful experiences. Each week we provide a carefully planned curriculum inspired by children's interests, seasonal themes and the Early Years Foundation Stage, encouraging exploration, creativity and independence. Children enjoy a wide variety of experiences including messy play, sensory activities, construction, small world play, arts and crafts, storytelling, music, imaginative play, science and nature exploration. We also encourage children to develop practical life skills through activities such as food preparation, caring for their environment and helping with simple daily routines. Although our outdoor space is compact, it provides opportunities for active play, exploration and fresh air every day. We also make the most of our local community through regular outings to parks, libraries, local shops, farms and other places of interest, helping children develop confidence while learning about the world around them. Within the setting we have dedicated spaces for babies, toddlers and preschool children, alongside cosy reading areas, quiet spaces and comfortable sleep facilities to ensure children can rest whenever they need to. At Little Ember, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We understand that being a childminder isn’t just a job, it’s parents inviting you to be part of their family. We take this role very seriously, and by building strong partnerships with parents, we aim to provide every child with a consistent, nurturing and joyful start to their learning journey.
