My passion in childcare finds origin back in my past, as a child I’ve always been interested in what teaching entails for children in their first years of education. Growing up I started to look for those answers in social sciences and that’s when I became sure I wanted childcare to become an integrated part of my life as a career. Therefore as soon as I had the chance I started gaining as much experience and contact with children as I could. When I acknowledged the importance of brain synapsis stimulation In the first 5 years of a child and how this could potentially determine their academic achievement in the future, I knew I wanted to be the person responsible of this impact on them.
At children’s orchard Childminding, we believe in nurturing both the mind and spirit of every child in a loving and stimulating environment. My setting is designed to be a home away from home, where each child feels valued, safe, and inspired to explore their world. My favourite part of the setting is the garden where children play a central role in caring for their own little plot of nature. From planting seeds to watering them and watching them grow, our garden provides hands-on experiences that teach responsibility and the joys of nurturing life. As our garden flourishes, so do the children, who not only learn about nature but also get to enjoy the fruits of their labor, with fresh, homegrown produce incorporated into our meals.
Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm But can be flexible if parents need an early start, if they’re close to the setting I’m also open to do drop off, needs to be close as I don’t have my car so it needs to be at a walking distance.
I will offer a kind of education that is very much focused on outdoor learning, I do take a lot of inspiration from forest school as well as the danish education system. Hence why the childminding setting is situated at a 5 minutes walking distance from Highgate woods where I would like to take the children at least once a day and 10 minutes walk from Waterlow park. I will definitely accept early years government funds, so all children are welcome in my setting.
Once all children will be settled then I intend to call a nutritionist to help me make a healthy and balanced diet, taking into consideration of any allergies or any dietary requirements.
Given I’m a native Italian speaker I would like to run some Italian sessions with them, which will start by being very basic and then moving onto reading storybooks to the children.
As previously mentioned I will encourage the children to cook and eat the vegetable they will take care of in the garden, so that will include cooking classes as well.
I also want to get the parents involved as much as possible so in case they celebrate something in particular I would like them to come and speak to the children about what that festive is for them,
in the case of older children I would also ask parents to come and explain a bit about their job and their usual day at work.
