About Me

My name is Federica Barbato and I am currently running a home-based childcare service known as Little Bell Childminder.

I have 5 years of experience as a nursery practitioner in various nurseries based in London where I have gained my NVQ level 2 in childcare. In 2020 after having my daughter, I have decided to work as a childminder providing a high-quality childcare within a professional setting for the children. I love spending time with children as I find interesting how curious they can find the world. I love supporting children to support and promote the best start in life that they can have.

I have experience in working with different age groups ranging from 6 months old to 5 years although I am currently accepting only children from 18 months onwards. My greatest experience has been the upbringing of my daughter that is 4 years old.

My Setting

My setting is a nature-based setting. I incorporate the use of natural resources within indoor and outdoor environments. One of the most important aspects for me is ensuring that the children are involved in daily outdoor activities as I believe this helps the child to feel more connected with the natural environment helping to support their mental well-being. Spending time outdoors helps the children to build up their character and their self-confidence.

Little bell setting is focused on promoting child -led learning which allows children to be responsible for deciding what or how they wish to learn. I truly evaluate the children’s feelings and emotions during my daily practices and my aim is to create a sense of belonging for each child attending my care.

At Little Bell Childminding, I believe in nurturing children's natural curiosity and imagination. My approach is inspired by the curiosity approach pedagogy, focusing on using real, authentic, and natural resources to ignite a love for learning. I am committed to reducing the use of plastic toys and incorporating eco-sustainable resources to create a nurturing environment for your child. The setting heavily incorporates loose parts play activities to encourage problem-solving skills and imaginative play, allowing children to explore and learn at their own pace

Provisions

One of my top priorities is making sure that every child is felt welcomed within my setting as its important to promote an inclusive setting that explored various culture and beliefs.

I believe that this provides opportunities for children to interact with each other while forming long lasting friendships. This also allow them to understand and accept different ethnic backgrounds and different ways of living.

It is also important that all learners including those with special educational needs and disabilities, have access to the same quality of education and support as the other peers.
