About Me

As a Father to three children i have first hand, daily experience if the Joys and challengers of raising children across a wide range of ages. My personal journey as a parent has deepened my appreciation for early childhood development and inspired me to take a more active role in supporting other families by becoming a home - based childminder. i believe that the early years are some of the most important in a Childs life and i am passionate about creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can flourish, explore their interest and develop into confident, happy individuals.

I enjoy sport & Keeping active. Outdoor play and learning is a big focus for me - encouraging physical activity, creativity and a connection with nature.

i am currently working towards the curiosity approach accreditation and I'm also keen to gain qualification in forest school leadership.

My Setting

Our childminding setting is run by us — husband and wife team, Amelia and Richard — from our warm and welcoming family home in the countryside. We’re passionate about providing a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where children can grow, explore, and develop at their own pace.

We follow the Curiosity Approach, a modern, child-centred pedagogy that draws inspiration from Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and Waldorf philosophies. It focuses on child-led learning, where little ones are encouraged to follow their natural curiosity and imagination. The environment plays a key role — it’s filled with authentic materials, real-life resources, and loose parts that inspire children to think creatively, problem-solve, and become architects of their own play.

Our dedicated playroom, situated just off the kitchen, is full of exciting treasures and open-ended resources that invite exploration and discovery. This space leads out onto a covered deck area with free-flow access to our lovely enclosed garden — perfect for outdoor play in all seasons. Our garden is spacious and rural, set on one acre of land with access to a larger wooded area, offering plenty of opportunities for adventure, nature play, and physical development.

We’ve designed our setting to feel like a true “home-from-home.” Children enter through their own dedicated entrance, where they can store their shoes, wellies, and coats, and we have a convenient downstairs shower room and toilet for easy access during the day. The house itself is a bungalow, making it an accessible and easy space for little ones to explore safely.

We love getting out and about too! Our days often include trips to Rand Farm Park, local woods, parks, the library, and museums — giving children a wide variety of experiences to spark their curiosity and help them learn about the world around them.

Our aim is to create a calm, unhurried space where children have time to discover, explore, and grow — developing essential life skills such as communication, independence, physical coordination, and social confidence, all through meaningful play.
