About Me

My preferred name is Vicki, I’m a mother to 1 daughter, and step- mother of 2 sons, making me a parent of 3 and I own “Curious Little Coopers” Childminding services.

I’ve had a full-time career working with children and adults within the education and rehabilitation sectors for approximately 25 years.

I have specialized working with those with neurodiverse needs and disabilities, as well as qualified as a Play Therapist, working with those who have suffered trauma.

We are all unique individuals, and this is where my passion is. Building and developing our own unique skills so that we feel confident and fulfilled in our abilities to achieve.

I work with a Montessori approach, ensuring children are enabled to access a range of equipment from the natural world encouraging healthy risk taking to enhance their independence, and I work therapeutically in my approach to support children to understand and regulate their emotions enhancing their awareness of their needs and others around them.

Children need to feel free to explore and this is what will provided at Curious Little Coopers in a safe and manageable way.

I look forward to welcoming you and your little one to my provision.

My Setting

I promote a calm and friendly environment within our home that supports each unique child’s needs. Development for a child is very individual, and I promote this within my setting.

Children learn to understand their world through play, and I ensure that activities are set up and adapted to meet everyone’s interests, no matter the age or stage of development.

I promote a full range of exercises including relaxation techniques to help children gain awareness of their feelings and how we can manage difficult things- such as sharing toys and turn taking.

I like to encourage children to be part of the everyday routine, getting involved with washing up and wiping things down, putting on their coats, all to establish how we can work as a team.

The use of baby sign, Makaton and visual aids are strongly used within my setting to support a child’s communication and social interaction and makes us work together as an inclusive provision, ensuring all children feel seen, heard and happy while here.

I will encourage the use of free flow play to be indoors and outdoors and we will regularly explore the outside world and nature around us; by frequently visiting local farms, our family allotment and numerous fields walks full of adventure. Be prepared to let your little ones enjoy this in all weathers.

We are a healthy eating encourager, and support children to understand food choices for better health. Children will be supported and encouraged to prepare any snacks or take part in cooking activities to broaden their understanding of food choices and encourage sensory development. You will need to provide a packed lunch and snacks and any milk alternatives if required. I can preheat food your little one and make up milk as determined and provided for by yourself.

Opening Hours

Monday to Thursday 08:30- 17:00. Some adjustments to times can be discussed on request but these will be dependent on circumstances.

Funding

Within my setting I am happy to accept babies from 9 months to children of 5 years, or when the parent determines the child is of appropriate school age.

I have qualifications as a SENDCO and Play Therapist so am confident that I will be able to provide appropriate and alternative support for children may appear to have additional needs. My approach is to continually work together to make this work.

I am happy to support you with any funding requirements that you have in line with the Government or Job Centre offers, please enquire at application regarding this.

Provisions

As an inclusive provision we practice ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their abilities, backgrounds, or circumstances, have equal access to activities, opportunities and environments.

Working together we will look to remove barriers to their learning, whether physical, social, or systemic—so that everyone feels valued, supported, and included. We might involve adapting teaching methods to cater to diverse learning needs, providing assistive technologies, or fostering a welcoming atmosphere for children of all backgrounds.

It’s about promoting equality and embracing diversity to ensure no one is left behind.
