Hello, My Name is Leigh and I manage By The Brook Childminding.
I’m a mum to five children, two of which are now teens. I have many years’ experience in Early Years, as a childminder and as a Nursery practitioner. I hold a National Diploma in Early Years and have undertaken my local councils childminder course. I am also degree level educated and worked as a student Midwife with the NHS for a number of years before returning to peruse a career in Early Years.
We are an active family, often visiting national Trust and English heritage places and I love reading.
I am passionate about providing quality Early Years care and education, I therefore often undertake continuous practice development and I am currently studying to become Hygge in the Early Years accredited.
At By the Brook Childminding my fees include regular outings, resources, a healthy morning and afternoon snack with milk and a light evening tea.
I run a home-from-home style setting with a calm, nurturing, Hygge style. I aim to foster meaningful connections with the children, focusing on child-led play in a calm environment allowing for children to learn and develop. The children have access to a large living room area, and dedicated playroom, with free flow access to a level, patioed, secure garden. There is on-road parking available.
I offer a mix of free play and focused activities for children to participate in that are in line with the Early Years curriculum as well as lots of outdoor and nature play.
Open Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 6pm. Term time and year round contracts are available. The setting is closed for 2 weeks during Christmas and for 2 weeks during the summer holidays.
I accept tax free childcare, early years funding and voucher schemes.
Children from all backgrounds, cultures and religions are welcomed and valued at the setting.
The setting offers a continuous provision of sand, water, malleable, art, role play and small world play to enable children to embed their learning and skills.
