I’m Kerry and I run Little Onions Childcare in the Wigston area, Leicestershire.
Our setting is run from our family home, which I share with my husband and my four children.
Prior to childminding, I worked as a teaching assistant at our local primary school.
I have a love of books and the outdoors.
I look forward to welcoming your child into our setting, where their days will be filled with high-quality learning, adventures and excitement.
As someone enthusiastic about the ‘Curiosity Approach’, my learning environment is calm and aims to be an extension of the children’s own home. All of our learning areas are centred around a large garden where children can free-flow between sheltered areas and outdoor learning opportunities. I aim to use as many natural resources as possible to develop children’s learning
Children can find a quiet space to read, reflect or rest in our reading shack; part of our garage doubles as an
area for messy play and expressive art.
Inside, equipment is kept at waist height to develop children’s independence and is linked with a book to invite their interest and encourage a love of reading.
We are located close to the local library, parks and community centres, all of which we visit regularly.
Term Time only Monday-Thursday Opening hours- 7:45am -5:30 pm Additional holiday clubs After school pickups from local primary schools
I accept government funding and tax-free childcare. Please contact me to discuss further.
I am passionate to ensure that the service I provide is inclusive to all the children in my care. I work closely with parents and carers to establish what provisions I can put into place to support every child in my care. I have experience working with children who have a range of different needs, including ASD and ADHD, while working as a teaching assistant at a local primary school.
